Highline College-Raised Beds/Imported Soil
Highline College offers a Certificate Program in Urban Agriculture at their Des Moines campus. The campus garden was having issues with blossom end rot. A soil test showed low pH (5.9) and low Magnesium (10.3%). Dolomite lime was applied to correct both the pH and Magnesium levels. And the blossom end rot? The improved pH level will help the plant uptake needed calcium, which along with regular watering from a drip line hose, should solve the problem of rotten zucchini ends.
Have you had your soil tested? KCD offers 5 FREE soil tests to qualified King County residents (visit KCD's website for details).
